Battling
In a battle, it can either be controlled by a mod, or you can control the entire battle yourself.
Please put at the start of your thread what kind of encounters you would prefer. Battles controlled by you will have mods simply spawn a Pokémon, list its abilities, moves, and gender, and you can write out a single post saying how the battle went. These tend to go by more quickly, but the rewards won't be as good for a finished thread full of Player-controlled battles as opposed to Mod-controlled battles.
In NPC battles, these will include Topsiders, and eventually, the Legendary Seven. You will have the option with Topsiders to control the outcome of the battle yourself, but thing that happen before and after the battle are up to the mod.
The Legendary Seven will always be mod-controlled, no exceptions. They will be difficult and long, not for the weak of heart.
Status Ailments
Poison, freezing, paralysis, and burn will not go away unless the Pokémon is housed in an Improved Heal Ball. A frozen Pokémon will need time to thaw out; this can be done by using a fire-type to generate heat, using an Ice Heal, or simply just keeping them out of their ball for a long period of time.
Poison will tick away a Pokémon's health gradually if left outside of their ball, but if you proceed onward and keep the Pokémon inside a ball, the leath will remain the same. Burns work the same way, but unlike being poisoned, will not cause a Pokémon to faint.
Capturing
Due to the nature of the balls used on this site, there is no need to purchase more than one of each kind of ball.
The default ball that's given to all newbies, regardless of affiliation or class, is the Improved Poké Ball. It has the same capture rate of regular Pokeballs, but without the annoying need to buy more.
With the Improved Poké Ball, you have four chances to capture a Pokémon. Each time you attempt a capture, the chances of it being unsuccesful rise. Improved Great Balls give you three chances, and Improved Ultra Balls give you two chances. Other options include the Improved Heal Ball and Improved Luxury Ball, which have the same capture rate of a Poké Ball. Heal Balls will heal Pokémon to full health upon being returned to the ball at the end of a battle, including status conditions. Luxury Balls make Pokémon gradually more friendly. There are no other kinds of balls currently, to keep things simple.
